Budget Friendly Car Performance Upgrades
There’s no need to spend money on your vehicle’s performance; there are few small but cost-effective improvements you can make to your car’s acceleration, fuel consumption and handling. A cold air intake or performance exhaust can ease backpressure to get the engine breathing cold air intake or performance exhaust will help relieve backpressure and ease engine breathing.
Other easy improvements, such as dash cams and rearview cameras, can increase safety and security for a reasonable price and are very easy to install.
High-performance air filter
The air filter is the simplest, cheapest improvement you can make to your vehicle. A high performance air filter is capable of reducing engine blockage while also improving fuel economy, engine durability, power and horsepower. Reusable filters also reduce replacing time as well as increase engine life for a larger profit down the road.
Your engine gets to burn more fuel and oxygen because the airflow is larger, delivering more power and acceleration. This happens as air gets out and fuel/air mixture gets better.
You can also make your car faster by weighting it down by getting rid of stuff you don’t need or fitting light weight wheels and tires. Changing suspension systems is another way to do that. It will also help your car to travel faster and get you into more extended stops which makes your drive more comfortable as well as bringing in overall speed. Please note, any such modifications may invalidate warranties of vehicles.
Performance chip
Performance chips (also known as ECU remapping) are a car upgrade that’ll give you more power and gas, for less money. Easy to put in and under $50, performance chips also make throttle sputtering and torque slamming a bit more robust – though there are a few things to consider before installing one.
Cars today are factory detuned to achieve emissions regulations and reduce CO2 emissions, but plug-in performance chips can bring the hidden engine alive through key setting such as fuel map and ignition timing – improving performance of 10-20 hp!
Installing a performance chip is one of the quickest and least expensive car performance modifications, it can be done in under half an hour using just some simple equipment. Before you buy one, though, do your homework and already know exactly what you want to get from your vehicle.
Spark plugs
This is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to boost your engine’s performance: swap your spark plugs. new spark plugs will ensure that air-fuel mixture ignites in an even pattern in the combustion chamber, increasing horsepower and fuel economy.
Copper spark plugs are used mainly on older cars, while platinum and iridium plugs are commonly used on higher performance vehicles. Iridium spark plugs have a more narrow wire at the center so less voltage is needed to get the sparks.Platinum spark plugs have a better resistance to heat than copper ones.
Please be aware that premium spark plugs will have an undue, but minimal, effect on the electrode/ground distance over the lifetime of the plug, but this should not induce misfire if you adjust them as per the instructions provided by the manufacturer. : Spark plugs would have a ludicrous performance effect only if gapped incorrectly, or installed in a non-required vehicle (EV).
Suspension system
Your car’s suspension is a vital part that helps it to drive and accelerate smoothly, protects its interior from imperfections in the road and noise, stabilizes its mass and absorbs shock, makes the maximum amount of contact between the tire and the road surface for better steering and handling, etc.
Normal suspension systems typically consist of strut kits, upper and lower control arms which join axle and wheel set for lateral control and stability, a control rod that secures lower arm, and stabilizer bars to create extra traction.
Not even a fancy kit or a lot of mods are needed to make your car perform better; it’s often just air filters, performance chips, spark plugs, and exhaust flow increasers you can buy cheaply. Keeping your tires and suspension in top shape will speed up the car as well, so to use the most of them look for the PSI levels of your tires and pump them full to the factory recommendation.
